Between Peter Myndes Backe and Mariagränd, in the heart of the classic Slussen silhouette, stands one of Stockholm's older buildings. The brick house, erected in 1647, has a rich history that begins with master tailor Frantz Bock.
Today, Hotel Frantz is a family-owned and newly renovated boutique hotel where Frantz's spirit lives on through the preservation of the old while incorporating influences from the world and the local surroundings in the vision of maintaining Frantz's home.
Judging by the house, Frantz was a wealthy man; he had a horse and two servants, Lasse and Oloff. In 1674, the building was taken over by a new master tailor, Albrecht Möller. After Albrecht, the Dutchman Peter Mynder purchased the house in 1691 and established a tobacco spinning mill. The historic house was acquired by the Stockholm Seamen's Home in 1873, which then operated it as a hotel, and it has remained so ever since.
We have now opened the doors to Peter Myndes Backe. Here, you'll find our reception and our newly opened restaurant, where we serve hotel breakfast and also invite you to dinner or a drink in our bar.
Hotel Frantz is part of the World Hotels chain, which consists of 4- and 5-star hotels around the world, from New York to Seoul.
